Yes, the application is safe to use, but the problem is that it's not compatible with Windows 8 because it's a product that was released a long time ago, however, there any many alternatives nowadays that do the same thing as Ulead PictureShow does. For example, ProShow Producer is a good application to create slideshows for your CD and DVDS. You can get it through its application page at Software Informer.

Try uninstalling the application and then installing it again. This should fix it. Additionally, remove the application first and use CCleaner to clean the registry files associated with the product.

You can use DVDStyler to customize a DVD menu and add thumbnails as well as screens, music and any other resources. Visit the official website to obtain a copy of the application. Besides, menu styling, it also allows you to directly burn videos on your DVD.
No, the application is not compatible with Windows 8. At the time of release the product was made available only for Windows 98, Me, 2000, and XP. Instead, you can download and use another program called ProShow Gold. It offers the same features as Ulead but it's compatible with modern operating systems.
